This design replaces the weak, factory (tinfoil) bash plates on your Mitsubishi L400 Delica. It protects vulnerable components under the front of your van—like your oil filter—from rocks, stumps, and rough terrain.
This layout addresses a critical original design flaw by Mitsubishi, where an exposed bolt directly under the oil filter leaves it highly vulnerable to impact. This proven modification has long been considered a "Must Have" for taking your Delica off-road.
Steel provides distinct advantages off-road. If bent, steel can easily be beaten back into shape without becoming brittle. It is extremely unlikely to tear, but if damaged, it can be welded simply without losing structural strength.
Note: This design puts zero pressure on the crossmember under the radiator.
This design offers significantly better airflow than stock plates. Real-world testing using Engine Watchdog gauges (conducted by Delicaclub Australia members) confirmed no increase in engine or transmission temperatures. Additional ventilation holes were deliberately excluded based on community testing to prevent debris entry and maintain maximum structural integrity.
